Who’s Who

A listing of some of the significant characters the party has met

Achuak

Lizardfolk Scale Shield Warrior. Tasked by Queen Othokent to foster good will with the people of Saltmarsh and to learn about humans, Achuak takes every opportunity he can to travel and adventure with the party.

Achuak Character Sheet

Anders Solmor

Saltmarsh Council. The youngest elected council member Saltmarsh has known (or at least can recall), Anders enjoys the good will of most Saltmarsh natives. Coming from a long line of fisherman, his family in recent years has expanded into trading and is generally admired by the locals for their business savvy and lack of airs. Anders had to take on both the council and his family’s business when his mother died unexpectedly less than two years prior.

Anders is best described as a slight man with sharp features and a toothy smile. He oftentimes seems anxious; its generally assumed this is due to the pressures life has placed upon him in recent years.

Aubrek Drallion

Merchant of Gradsul. Having fallen upon hard times, Aubrek prevailed upon the party to help recover promissory notes from the Sea Princes on a lost ship. Aubrek’s business dealings with the Sea Princes were not entirely above board.

Eda Oweland

Saltmarsh Council. A gruff, pragmatic woman whose graying hair is cut short and whose face bears the marks of a life lived outdoors. Eda is the most senior member of the town council. The Oweland family has been in Saltmarsh as long as any other family. She advocates for the fisherman of the village and would prefer outside influences meddle elsewhere.

Elthraine

D’Vandra’s Aunt. Speculating on Elthraine’s exact age is a game that draws many participants. Those who land on ‘ancient’ site stories with her providing aid or counsel to those long since past and her slight scars from pox which she survived as a child (no one remembers the last time a pox affected Saltmarsh). Folks who dispute ‘ancient’ point to her stamina and strength – she can be seen chopping wood, working fields, and taking on other manual work without complaint or delay.

A respected herbalist and healer, the locals trust Elthraine and have come to rely upon her no-nonsense approach to all matters as well as her discretion – she is not one to trade in gossip or small talk. Over the years Elthraine has taken under her wing those in need. She’s currently looking after Caleb and Ruth – two small orphans who were fleeing the dreaded Poison Claw Goblin tribe in the Pomarj before being kidnapped and shipped to Saltmarsh where they were held captive underneath the Alchemist’s Mansion before the party rescued them.

She lives in hut on a small patch of land about 1 mile inland from Saltmarsh. She is more friendly with the impoverished farmers here than many of the sailors and townsfolk of Saltmarsh, whom she finds uppity and careless. Elthraine brings her wares to the weekly market in Saltmarsh but is also known to take house calls as needed. She lives simply – in part by choice and in part because many of her customers cannot pay in coin. In lieu of coinage, she enjoys a respected position and the good will of decent people in the area.

Embrak Starkgrace

Dwarven Miner. Embrak looks up to Osrik and remains grateful to the party for rescuing him from belligerents at the Wicker Goat. Embrak is a capable fighter in his own right and remains fiercely loyal to lady Manistrad Copperlocks.

Eliander Fireborn

Saltmarsh Council. A respected veteran of the Keoish Royal Army, Eliander suffered a tremendous injury to his leg in a battle against an owlbear and now walks upon a wooden peg. Despite his injury and advancing age, the captain of the Saltmarsh town guard remains an imposing figure. While not known for his patience, Eliander is a generally respected leader and is recognized for his thoughtful approach to problem solving. In his spare time, Eliander prefers to be left to his studies. The local population has learned they can prevail upon him as a translator as he speaks numerous languages.

Gellan Primewater

Saltmarsh Council. A well-spoken, dapper older gentleman with a neatly trimmed beard and a fancy wardrobe. The Primewater family is ostensibly the wealthiest in Saltmarsh, having made their fortunes from fishing and various other enterprises. Gellan is known to throw lavish parties.

Manistrad Copperlocks

Saltmarsh Council. The leader of the newly established mining operation, Manistrad is a reluctant member of the council. Her seat on the council was mandated by King Scotti, which be default earned her no great will amongst the rank and file of Saltmarsh or other longstanding council members for that matter. She would prefer to be left entirely to pursue her mining operation, and thus views her role on the council as a painful distraction. Her loyalties lie, by her own admission, with the King and royal courts as they granted her sole rights to mine Saltmarsh region. Its rumored she was an accomplished adventurer and that she leveraged her accomplishments and reputation to persuade the King to grant her mining rights.

Lankus Kurrid

Innkeeper at the Wicker Goat. Lankus retired his Keoland army uniform some time ago in exchange for what he hoped to be a quiet existence in Saltmarsh. Lankus is generally open-minded and easy going, accepting of any and all patrons who show respect. The Council Saltmarsh will on occasion rely upon his services to accommodate guests and other tasks.

Oceanus

Scout from the Mannan Sea Elf clan. Oceanus snuck aboard the Sea Ghost to learn more about the mysterious shipments of arms and weapons they had observed previously. Before he could report back to his clan, he was overpowered and held captive. He remains grateful to the party for rescuing him and releasing him to return to his people.

He swore he would repay the party some day if he could. Oceanus speaks the Common tongue but in an antiquated manner, which almost comes off as comedic. His name being unpronounceable to those unfamiliar with his language, he adopted the moniker “Oceanus”.

Karg

Town gravedigger and cemetery caretaker. A weathered, scarred face, prominent jawline and greenish skin tone point to orchish ancestry and a history of violence, but these contrast sharply with his soft-spoken, thoughtful manner.

Karg served his role as gravedigger and caretaker of the cemetery for the past decade. He’s agreed to refer families in need of religious service to Kazim. Karg is well read and has a particular interest in history.

Kraddock Stonehorn

Lieutenant of the King’s Guard in Saltmarsh. A decorated veteran with no patience for nonsense, Kraddock has the respect of the rank and file guards and militia and reports directly to Eliander.

Queen Othokent

Queen of the Lizardfolk. Othokent (“wise” in Draconic) leads her people through unprecedented times. The casualties and loss of their ancestral home at the hands of the Sahuagin was a hard blow to her clan. She has explored unconventional avenues to secure her clan’s long term freedom and protection – namely through diplomacy and investment in “soft-skin” arms and armor. Her position remains delicate as more traditional members of her clan resent these tactics and believe them to be a departure from the way their god Semuanya intended for them to live. Time will judge the merit of her unorthodox approach.

Ferrin Kastliar

Druid Priest of Obad-Hai. The venerable keeper of the Sea Grove of Obad-Hai, Ferrin keeps in touch with a vast network of fey and people who understand and respect the natural order. On occasion he works with Elthraine to recruit adventurers when unnatural threats arise.

Tribalt

Captain of Mariner’s Guildhall. A respected veteran of many sea voyages, Tribalt runs a tight ship at the Guildhall. Stern almost to a fault, it’s unclear whether he is capable of experiencing joy or happiness. Through his guild connections, Tribalt is an excellent source of information for all things naval.

Vertheg

Aubrek Drallion’s go-to man. A meticulously detail-oriented and anxious character. Vertheg’s single lower tusk points to his Orcish ancestry.

Captain Xendros

Captain of the Faithful Quartermasters of Iuz. A well-connected tiefling always happy to trade exotic goods (magic items and more) for coin or food stuffs to help feed the faithful of Iuz. Although it is not loudly or openly proclaimed, the Kingdoms of Iuz and Keoland enjoy a brisk trade.
